Raipur: Rampant gambling continues in the capital even after two days of Diwali festival being over. In the last 24-hours, police arrested a total of 30 gamblers from five separate places and seized from them cash Rs 39225 apart from several packs of playing cards.
All the accused were later booked under Section 13 of Gambling Act. According to police, the first and the biggest raid was conducted in Dhimarpara area of Tikrapara from where a total of 17 gamblers were nabbed gambling in three separate groups. Police seized from them a collective cash amount of Rs 34450 and several packs of playing cards.
The next raid was conducted by Azad Chowk police at Amapara lane from where two gamblers were arrested and Rs 555 seized from them. The third raid was conducted by Urla police in Sarora from where three gamblers were arrested and Rs 550 was seized from them. The next raid was conducted by Moudhapara police behind Bombay Market from where four gamblers were arrested and Rs 650 was seized from them and the final raid was conducted by Kabir Nagar police near Pahadi pond in Sondongri from where four gamblers were arrested and Rs 3020 was seized from them.
