On saturday evening, six people of Khadol village near Gujarat drowned while bathing in the river after immersing the idol of Lord Ganesha.
The Police informed on Saturday that the incident took place on Friday evening in Khadol village in Dhansura taluk of Aravali district.
“A group of people from Khadol village went to immerse the idol of Lord Ganesha in the Vatrak river on Friday evening,” said an official of Dhansura police station.
He said that six people drowned for failing to estimate the depth of the water.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and teams of local officials took out their bodies on Saturday morning.
He said that the deceased have been identified as Lalabhai Khant (35), Ajit Khant (18), Ashok Khant (43), Gopal Khant (23), Bhavesh Khant (18) and Kanubhai Khant (33).
