ACB Cgarh lands in its dragnet; CGMSC officer as he accepted bribe

bill, though, had been pending since December 2017

In a major swoop, the Anti-Corruption Bureau has arrested Virendra Jain, General Manager (Technical) of the Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corporation, as he was accepting bribe of Rs 1 lakh.

The ACB carried out its raid on the officer after complaint from one pharma trader.

The trader has been identified as Akash Mishra, who claimed to have supplied with the organization with the medicines and equipments to the tune of Rs 2 crores.

The bill, though, had been pending since December 2017.

Mishra said in his complaint that the Virendra Jain had to send in the file with his recommendation to the General Manager Finance for bill to be cleared but he was insisting on bribe money for forwarding the file.

The accused Virendra Jain had asked the victim to arrive at Colours Mall with the payment of Rs 1 lakh as bribe money but the ACB had already cast its net there in advance.

The ACB raid is being called unprecedented in some government staffers and employees.

The ACB officers have meanwhile begun probe into the officer’s assets that he may have gathered so far and whether those are disproportionate to his sources of income.
