The much awaited verdict of the top court has come in the case of activists now under house arrest in Bhima Koregaon episode.
As per the verdict, the Supreme Court has extended the house arrest of five activists till September 12.
But the top court also pulled up the Maharashtra government for organizing the press conference by its police last week to give out evidences in public.
The Supreme Court has asked the state government to direct its police to be more responsible when the matter is being heard by the court.
The Maharashtra police has defended its demand for custody of the activists – Varavara Rao, Vernon Gonzalves, Arun Ferreira, Sudha Bhardwaj and Gautam Navalakha – saying that keeping these activists under house arrest will hamper the investigation in the case.>
