ADA likely to involve private players in ambitious Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft programme

proposal is special in that it is likely to involve private players

It has been in news for quite some time now.

But the Aeronautical Development Agency has now invited the private sector players as well to start building a technology demonstrator for Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA).

The ADA had earlier conceived and designed the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas of which the Indian armed forces have placed orders in substantial numbers.

The proposal is special in that it is likely to involve private players in an indigenous fighter jet programme.

The project — to be implemented in Sulur in Coimbatore district which may house the permanent base of the Tejas squadron — marks Tamil Nadu’s first major defence aircraft project.

According to ADA, private players will be required to manufacture, assemble and equip two fighter aircrafts.
