Afghan head of mission to India quits, cud be eyeing politics

It is not often that a head of mission steps down just after a successful visit from his country to India but the same happened in case of Afghanistan.

The Afghan head of mission in India Ambassador Shaida Abdali tendered his resignation just as the Afghan President Ashraf Ghani made a successful trip to India.

The Ambassador Shaida Abdali tendered his resignation with a public announcement on Twitter.

It is now under speculation that Ambassador Abdali has quit with his eyes clearly set on his political future in Afghanistan.

The Presidential election in Afghanistan is to take place by April 2019.

Stepping Down – A tough but an appealing decision: On a high note ending a successful visit of HE the Afghan President in India, I resigned today as the Afghan Ambassador to India. Serving in India for more than six years was indeed a great honor and privilege…

Even as he has decided to leave for Kabul, he emphasised that India will always remain second home.
