He was a Chinese national and managing director of the local unit of Shanghai based Cosco Shipping Lines.

He was shot at by a gunman after which the 46-year-old Chinese national died in the hospital.

He had been hit in the head and died in a hospital later.

It need be mentioned that however that the police passed the case to its counter-terrorism unit.

The incident has once again exposed the lack of security that continues to plague Pakistan.

It also highlights China’s increased concern as it finances more than $50 billion of infrastructure projects across Pakistan.

After the attack, Beijing called on Pakistan to take more measures to ensure safety of its nationals.

At least 20,000 Chinese nationals have flocked to tap rising opportunities across Pakistan, according to an estimate.

So much is the threat perception to Chinese national in Pakistan that the country raised a 15,000 strong force to protect CPEC projects.

The business community in Karachi is wary of spooking China and is starting to call for more action.
