With the indigenous Light Combat Aircraft Tejas now getting FOC certificate, the Army Chief General Bipin Rawat and Principal Scientific Advisor to government went in for a sortie on the plane.
But the Indian Air Force, keen to celebrate Women’s Day, invited ace badminton player PV Sindhu to also take a sortie on the HAL’s Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas.
The badminton star flew in the Tejas fighter jet as part of the Women’s Day on the fourth day of the air show held at the Yelahanka air base.
The opportunity was given at Bengaluru’s air show Aero India 2019.
Tejas, built by the state-run Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, is a single engine multirole light fighter.
The aircraft received its final operational clearance (FOC) on Wednesday from military aviation regulator Centre for Military Airworthiness and Certification (Cemilac) for induction into the Indian Air Force (IAF) as a weaponised fighter jet in its operational fleet.
