After hugplomacy with Modi, Cong chief chairs CWC meet

former party President Sonia Gandhi alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rhetoric reflects his desperation as the BJP’s days at central government are numbered

After the hugplomacy, the Congress president Rahul Gandhi chaired his first meeting of the newly constituted Congress Working Committee (CWC).

He called the CWC as a bridge between the past, present and the future.

Rahul Gandhi went ahead and urged party members to stand and fight for “India’s oppressed”.

The former party President Sonia Gandhi alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rhetoric reflects his desperation as the BJP’s days at central government are numbered.

Rahul Gandhi also said that party are committed to make alliances work.

The announcement comes ahead of major state elections and also months before national election next year.

Also in attendance was former prime minister Manmohan Singh, who rejected the culture of constant self-praise of Prime Minister Modi.

Taking potshots at the government’s claim of doubling agro income by 2022, the leader said that it will require an agriculture sector to grow at a rate of 14 per cent.

The meeting comes days after Rahul Gandhi’s no-holds-barred speech in the Lok Sabha during a debate on the no-confidence motion.
