Yet another central Minister has now announced not contesting parliamentary poll next year.
That Minister is BJP stalwart Uma Bharti, who said that she won’t contest the 2019 Lok Sabha poll but added that she will not quit politics.
It need be mentioned that with this announcement, she is second senior woman leader from Madhya Pradesh who has announced not contesting Lok Sabha poll.
Uma Bharti said that although she had decided not to contest the parliamentary elections, she was not taking retirement from active politics.
She said that she will instead spend time working for the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya and for the cause of holy Ganga from January 1 of year 2019.
It need be mentioned that Uma Bharti currently represents Jhansi-Lalitpur constituency in parliament and is the Minister for Drinking Water and Sanitation. She was also the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, a lawmaker from Vidisha in Madhya Pradesh, has already declared she would not be contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha election.>
