After ‘water-melon’ remark of prof triggering protests; police files case

But the police now claims that they have filed a non-bailable case

Protests had been ongoing over the controversial remark of the professor of a teachers’ training college in Kozhikode after he compared torso area of women with the sliced water-melon.

It need be mentioned that water-melon protests had broken out after these controversial remarks and it is now that the police have booked the professor.

Farook Training College’s Jouhar Munavvir T made the controversial remark while delivering a speech at a religious function in Koduvally of Kozhikode district.

But the police now claims that they have filed a non-bailable case against the teacher after a final year degree student of the same college filed a complaint.

A police team has also been constituted to track and arrest him, the officer added.

The social science professor said such trends were un-Islamic and against the very tenets of the religion.

However, the college is yet to take action against him.
