Ahead of state election, Cong’s senior leader joins in BJP

Uike's decision is major blow for the party ahead of election in the state just a month away

In a major jolt to Congress in Chhattisgarh, party’s senior leader Ram Dayal Uike has joined in the BJP in presence of BJP chief Amit Shah.

The Uike’s decision is major blow for the party ahead of election in the state just a month away.

Uike was Congress’s state executive president and was inducted into the BJP by party chief Amit Shah in the presence of Chief Minister Raman Singh in Bilaspur.

Reacting to the development, the Congress leader TS Singhdeo expressed shock in that Uike had been given due respect in the party and thus there was no reason for him to be aggrieved.

On the same question, Chhattisgarh Congress chief Bhupesh Bhaghel said that politicians switching parties in the election season is not uncommon.

Ram Dayal Uike is a four-time lawmaker from Pali in Chhattisgarh.

The Congress election decision making body, chaired by Rahul Gandhi, had finalised the candidates for Chhattisgarh yesterday.

So far the party has been unable to stitch an alliance with the regional parties for the Assembly elections.
