Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Salman Khan’s names bring back so many memories.
They were once Bollywood’s favourite real life couple but destiny had some other plans. Eventually things didn’t work out between the actors and they decided to part ways. Since then, a lot has been spoken and written about their personal equation.
Today, they are both living their own lives separately unperturbed by all the gossip stories and various such reports.
Their pairing was highlighted and noticed in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 1999 directorial, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.
In fact it’s the only movie where they romanced each other, leaving aside her cameo in Shah Rukh, Madhuri starrer Hum Tumhare Hai Sanam.
Obviously those weren’t the only movies offered to them. There were quite a few but nothing worked out in the end.
And while we have no qualms about other projects, there is one movie we wished she was a part of. The movie in question here is Sooraj Barjatya’s 1999 blockbuster Hum Saath Saath Hai.
Yes, Aishwarya was offered a role in this multi-starrer, but she had to let it go.
Now, we don’t really know if she was paired opposite Salman in the movie, but nonetheless she couldn’t take up the part.
She revealed the details about the same in one of her early interviews and trust us, we were unaware of this fact till date.
Yash Chopra who wanted to launch Aishwarya with Dil To Pagal Hai (the movie was delayed), was in fact very upset with the actress for turning down a role in the Sooraj Barjatya movie.
Narrating the details of why she rejected, she said, “It was humanly impossible for me to do it.
There are only so many days in a year and only so many hours that I can put in. I know for a fact that some heroines actually cried when they weren’t approached for Sooraj Barjatya’s film. But Sooraj understood my dilemma.
He praised me for my professionalism.” Probably the actress was sceptical to star in a multi-starrer; hence the director even assured her a solo movie next time.
Unfortunately the movie was never made and we never got to see the beautiful collaboration of Aishwarya and Sooraj Barjatya.
Hum Saath Saath Hai wasn’t the only movie that the actress rejected in her long career span. Apart from that she even said no to superhits like Dil To Pagal Hai, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Mann.>
