It is now said that the government of India has formed a new panel under the chairmanship of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
The new panel aptly named Defence Planning Committee (DPC) is aimed at creating new national security roadmap.
The DPC has been tasked to envisage a draft national security strategy and is also to formulate an international defence engagement strategy.
The other members of the DPC includes Chairman Chiefs of the Staff Committee (COSC), all the three service chiefs, Defence Secretary, Foreign Secretary and Secretary of expenditure in the Finance Ministry will be involved in this planning committee.
It is said that the DPC would primarily engage itself in framing Policy and Strategy, Plans and Capability Development, Defence Diplomacy and Defence Manufacturing Ecosystem.
The DPC would further have four sub-committees to look into these particular matters.
The reports after churning would be submitted to the Defence Minister, it was informed.
A major area of work would be to develop a defence manufacturing ecosystem and boosting the exports of indigenously produced defence products.>
