Ahead of the crucial Shanghai Cooperation Organization leaders meeting in June 2018, it is likely that the National Security Adviser AK Doval would travel to the middle kingdom.
Doval’s visit is most likely happen ahead of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in June of this year.
Doval, who will participate in the SCO NSA-level meeting with an aim to give impetus to the eight-nation grouping’s anti-terror agenda, is also likely to interact with State Councillor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
It is now being speculated that Wang Yi could emerge to be special representative (SR) for boundary talks with India.
It was only in last December that Ajit Doval, who is also Indian designated SR for boundary talks with China, had met Yang Jiechi (then SR) in Delhi.
The border talks have assumed far more significance in wake of the last year’s Doklam crisis.
It is also being said that Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj is also to visit China for the SCO Foreign Ministers meet on April 24.
These meetings are widely seen as setting the stage for a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping during the SCO Summit.
