Ajit Jogi caste status; HC directs for new high powered committee to be formed

It is being dubbed as a victory for the former chief minister Ajit Jogi whose caste status had been questioned by a high powered committee of the state government.

Countering this the former chief minister Ajit Jogi had filed a petition in this regard which was admitted by the High Court.

The High Court bench of Justice TB Radhakrishnan and Justice Shara Kumar Gupta ordered the state government to constitute a new high powered committee on the issue.

The high powered committee in its earlier form had refused to accord tribal caste status to Ajit Jogi.

It need be mentioned that Nand Kumar Sai and Sant Kumar Netam had challenged the caste status of Ajit Jogi in the High Court.

In his reaction to the High Court order, Ajit Jogi said ‘Satyamev Jayate’. He said that truth may be harassed but it can never be conquered.

It need be mentioned that Jogi has formed a new political party and hopes to contest what Jogi claims a two way fight between his party and ruling BJP.

More relevant political reactions came in on the issue as state government has said that a new high powered committed would soon be constituted without any delay.

The Congress Chhattisgarh unit chief Bhupesh Baghel said that state government is hand in gloves with the former Chief Minister and said that lapses in the high powered committed as pointed out must have been done deliberately.
