Ajit Jogi to not contest in Cgarh assembly election, heres why

This comes after he has had consultations with the Bahujan Samaj Party alliance partners today

In yet another major development for the Chhattisgarh polity ahead of the crucial assembly election, the former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi has announced not contesting on any seat of the state.

This comes after he has had consultations with the Bahujan Samaj Party alliance partners today.

It is said that the reason being cited is that Ajit Jogi contesting on any one or two seat would bind him there thereby leaving the remaining state without him as campaigner.

Earlier it had been said that he will contest on at least two seats including Rajnandgaon where he was likely to face Dr Raman Singh, the incumbent Chief Minister.

He had also deputed his daughter-in-law Richa Jogi to campaign for him in Rajnandgaon.

The alliance partners, it is being said now, pressed for Ajit Jogi to campaign across the seats of Chhattisgarh to maximize gains for the alliance.

It remains to be seen how the Congress and BJP react to the latest development.
