Director Akarsh Khurana’s Karwaan is a road trip film that stars Irrfan Khan and OK Kanmani actor Dulquer Salmaan. During a recent media interaction, Akarsh went candid and shared some incidents from the shooting diary and also revealed how the chemistry between Dulquer and Irrfan was.
Karwaan is about two friends based in Bengaluru and how situations make both of them travel from Bengaluru to Kochi together by road. The film also stars the one of the most popular Gen-Y internet stars, Mithila Palkar.
When one of the most sought-after and talented Indian actors (Irrfan) along with his young and versatile counterpart from the south were out on the streets to shoot a film, there has to be a couple of ‘getting mobbed’ stories — exactly what Akarsh spoke of.
Recalling a shoot in Kerala the director said to Mumbai Mirror, “At one point, we had to stop the shoot to let the traffic pass and taking advantage of that, some fans came up to the bridge to click Dulquer and Irrfan. My DOP and I were pushed back by the surging crowd and taking out my cell phone, I began to take pictures too even as a particularly enthusiastic fan clambered on to my shoulders to get a better view of his idols, even instructing me in Malayalam so he could get some clear pictures.”
The actors were also mobbed at a school in Ooty by 300 girls and they all went berserk cheering for Irrfan and Dulquer. Akarsh also said that Dulquer and Irrfan really hit it off and they shared a great bond on and off screen.Karwaan is slated to release on 1 June. Its story is written by Adhir Bhat and the film is produced by Ronnie Screwvala.
