Akshay Kumar is one of the most talented actors we have today.
Four years ago he donned a new avatar as a singer as he sang the romantic ballet, Mujh Mein Tu in Special Chabbis and recorded a song for Entertainment the following year.
Earlier he had rapped with Snoop Dogg in the title track of Singh is King (2008). This year saw him serenading his wife Twinkle Khanna on Karan Johar’s chat show Koffee With Karan as he sang Strangers in The Night.
But now for the first time on Indian television, Akshay will be seen singing a song on TV on the reality show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge (TGILC) which airs from September 30.
Says a source, “Akshay Kumar will be seen as a judge on The Great Indian Laughter Challenge with three mentors Zakir Khan , Mallika Dua and Hussain Dalal and super mentor Sunil Grover.
Akshay has sung a parody song for the show and also choreographed it himself. He will also be seen dancing to the song with the mentors and the super mentor.
The song is a parody on laughter and is for a special episode. It will be part of the opening act for one of the episodes which will air later.
This the first time that Akshay is singing for an Indian TV show. He has hosted Khatron Ki Khiladi earlier but never sang on it.
Akshay will be seen doing some exciting stuff with a brand new avatar on the reality show.”
The interesting thing is that Akshay has not just sung the parody song but sat down with the creative team TGILC and wrote the lyrics with them.
The source adds, “Akshay loves to be part of every creative process of any project that he is associated with.
Few know that he enjoys singing and even gave time to record it in the middle of his busy schedule as he is shooting for Gold in London.
He didn’t do any rehearsals. Ashvini gave him a scratch and he went straight for the recording.
The show is being produced by Ashvini Yardi. Akshay made his cult TV debut with Ashvini when she was Programming Head at Colors channel so one is expecting a lot of new things in this show. There will be lot of such fun elements on the show.”
