An Alcohol Prohibition Week will be organized from October 2 to October 8, 2018 in state on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. Awareness programme will be organized from district to gram panchayat level during this period.
Director, Social Justice and Disabled Welfare told that like every year, students and the society are apprised with the ill-effects of consumption of alcohol, tobacco, gutka, cigarette and other intoxicants during the alcohol prohibition week organized from October 2 (Gandhi Jayanti).
Public welfare programmes are organized by departments of Education, Health and Family Welfare, Woman-Child
Development, Transport, Home, Sports and Youth Welfare, School Education and local organizations during the week. He said that support will be sought from voluntary organizations also in this work.
A district level implementation committee has also been constituted in the state headed by the Collector to put a check on substance abuse.
The awareness programmes will include events like administering pledge against substance abuse, filling affidavits, exhibition, organizing debates in educational institutions, speech, painting and slogan-writing contests, essay competition and other programmes through Kala Pathak Dals and Kala Mandis.>
