In Jammu & Kashmir, the ongoing Amarnath pilgrimage has been suspended at Jammu base camp due to the blockage of Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Ramban district.
Police sources told media Jammu that no fresh batch of Amarnath pilgrims has been allowed to proceed for the pilgrimage from the Yatri Niwas base camp this morning.
The incessant rainfall since previous night in Jammu region triggered landslides leading to temporary closure of the highway. The traffic on the highway has been suspended today since wee hours.
Meanwhile, the Yatra from Baltal Base camp in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district has also been temporarily suspended due to heavy rainfall in the area. Yatra camp official said, the Yatra will resume after the weather conditions improve in the region.
