In a ghastly incident, an American man visiting one of the islands housing protected tribe on the Andaman and Nicobar chain got killed.
Police have arrested seven fishermen in this regard who, as per allegation, took the foreigner to the island housing the Sentinalese tribe people.
The American has been identified as 27-year-old John Allen Chau.
Police said that he had travelled to North Sentinel Island, where the indigenous Sentinelese people live.
The Sentinelese, whose population in 2011 was estimated at 40, are known to resist contact with the outside world.
Meanwhile, police claims to have been told by the fishermen that they last saw the American man being attacked with bows and arrows after he landed on the island towards the southern Andamans on November 16.
Only people who have high-level access and permission can visit the protected areas as the strategic Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
There is also massive presence of the defence forces with sensitive installations.>
