As the Ayodhya dispute continues to garner space in political debates, BJP Member of Parliament Vinay Katiyar may have started an altogether new debate after all.

He said that the Mughal invaders have demolished and razed close to 6,000 worship places in the past. Katiyar also claimed that even Jama Masjid was earlier Jamuna Devi temple before the capital Delhi was invaded by Mughals.

Earlier, when the Uttar Pradesh government left out Taj Mahal from its tourism brochure.

Katiyar claimed the Mughal mausoleum was, in fact, a Hindu temple which housed an idol of Lord Shiva.

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court began final hearing in the Ayodhya case, 25 years after the demolition of Babri Masjid.
