He assured that strictest of the action will be taken against anyone who commits wrong in the institution of Army

As the controversy over Army Major Leetul Gogoi keeps lingering, the Army Chief General Bipin Rawat has now spoken on the issue.

He assured that strictest of the action will be taken against anyone who commits wrong in the institution of Army.

It need be recalled that Major Gogoi is reported to have gone to hotel with and was to meet with a Kashmiri woman.

The officer who was detained is Major Leetul Gogoi, who shot to controversy last year when he tied a Kashmiri
man to his jeep as a “human shield” during by-polls, aiming to discourage stone-pelters.

Army Chief Rawat, while talking to media persons, said “if Major Gogoi has done something wrong then I can say that he will be given due punishment and the punishment will be such that it will set an example”.

General Rawat was visiting Srinagar to review the ground situation and open goodwill schools run by the army.

After his detention on Wednesday, Major Gogoi was handed over to his army unit. A senior police officer was asked to investigate what happened.
