Amid the tug of war on both sides to form next state government in Karnataka, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is said to have greeted Janata Dal (Secular) leader H.D. Deve Gowda on his birthday on Friday.
“Spoke to our former Prime Minister Shri HD Deve Gowda Ji and conveyed birthday wishes to him. I pray for his good health and long life,” Modi tweeted.
This is when the JD (S) and Congress have secured a verdict from the Supreme Court that Karnataka floor test will have to be done by Saturday evening.
The two parties have been accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party’s government in state to be looking to poach rival parties MLAs.
They also challenged the Governor’s decision to invite B.S. Yeddyurappa to take oath as Chief Minister.
Post the Karnataka election, the BJP has emerged as the single-largest party in Karnataka but the JD (S) and Congress together have more MLAs than what is needed to prove majority.>
