As southern state of Kerala battles Nipah virus, the discovery of more than dozen and a half bats dead in a premises caused alarm.
The bats were found on Wednesday on the premises of a government school in Himachal Pradesh’s Nahan.
The news spread and it triggered panic among locals.
The administration too did not take chances and rushed in its officers.
Officials of the health, animal husbandry and forest departments arrived at the Burma Papadi School to take samples of the dead bats for further investigation.
Meanwhile with the discovery of bats in Himachal Pradesh, the students have been briefed on the Nipah virus, its symptoms and preventive measures.
The scare was justified too as the death toll in the deadly Nipah virus outbreak of Kerala has so far claimed 10 lives.>
