Political arena of India has heated up after reports surfaced that Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Urjit Patel’s might resign.
There have been speculations that the RBI Governor might put in his papers in wake of breakdown in relations with the central government with the central banker.
With this development, the Opposition yet again launched an attack on the Modi government for systematically destroying the institutions of this country.
Taking a potshot at the NDA government, Congress President Rahul Gandhi said it is ironic that a statue of Sardar Patel is being inaugurated, but every institution he helped build is being smashed.

Again, the former Finance minister P Chidambaram tweeted, “If, as reported, Government has invoked Section 7 of the RBI Act and issued unprecedented ‘directions’ to the RBI, I am afraid there will be more bad news today.”
The others who criticized the possible move included All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen President Asaduddin Owaisi.
Owaisi said that if the RBI guv resigns, it’ll be confirmed that the government interfered with the Bank’s autonomy as it did with the CBI.
The RBI and the finance ministry have so far not clarified on the speculations.>
