Amid tension between two countries, Pak MP visits Kumbh Mela

Amid simmering tension between India and Pakistan, a Pakistan Member of Parliament (MP) Rajesh Kumar Vankwani visited Kumbh Mela 2019.

It is said that he was invited by a government body to attend Kumbh Mela.

The Pakistani MP met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and former Army chief and MoS for Foreign Affairs VK Singh.

Vankwani said Pakistan was not involved in the Pulwama attacks and that Islamabad wants peace with India.

Incidentally, Vankwani is an MP from Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party -Pakistan Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

He was part of a foreign delegation which was invited by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) to visit Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj.
