AMU student’s union opposes course on ‘Islamic Terrorism’ in JNU

He has demanded that the decision be rolled back with immediate effect

Amid the proposal to introduce course on Islamic terror in Jawahar Lal Nehru University, the Aligarh Muslim University Student Union (AMUSU) Maskoor Ahmad Usmani has registered his opposition.

In a letter written to the Minister for Human Resource Development, the president of AMUSU Maskoor Ahmad Usmani has alleged that it appears to be an effort to extend religious colour to the terror acts.

He has demanded that the decision be rolled back with immediate effect.

The AMUSU president also said that Minister for Human Resource Development needs to pay heed to the recent resolution of Jawaharlal Nehru University Academic Council where a proposal regarding introduction of a new course on ‘Islamic Terrorism’ has been passed.

He termed it deep rooted agenda to malign a specific religion.

“There is paucity of funds for existing courses but still such proposals are being passed for new courses,” alleged AMUSU president.
