Another Periyar statue vandalised in Tamil Nadu; Rahul Gandhi tweets concern over incident

The Tripura Lenin statue vandalism has led to a series of such protests across the nation and the latest in that series is that of Periyar, the Tamil leader who is revered by many in the state.

The incident is of Tamil Nadu where unidentified persons damaged statue of Dravidian stalwart EV Ramasamy, aka Periyar, in Alangudi town in Pudukkottai district.

Police have registered a case and an investigation is underway.

The first of this series of incidents took place when communist hero Lenin’s statue was razed in Tripura by BJP supporters.

The statue was razed after BJP won in the assembly polls.

However, all of the senior BJP leaders have condemned the incidents of statue vandalism across the country.
