Despite the strict security arrangements, the Arakshan Mukti Morcha called for Bandh to be implemented in Chhattisgarh capital in support of anti-reservation forces across the country.
It is said that when the delegates of the outfit embarked to appeal for closure of shops in support of bandh, they were promptly arrested by the police.
Police have confirmed that almost 50 of such activists have been taken to Raipur central jail and the administration is also geared up to make temporary arrangements of detention if the need so arises
Most of those who supported call for Bandh included those from upper caste and so far over 200 have either been arrested or detained in and around Raipur.
Meanwhile the activists have resolved to continue with such protests till the time the menace of reservation gets ended.
They complained that despite them organizing peaceful protests and appealing for closure of shops with folded hands, the police arrested them.
They questioned why those with less percentages gain employment while the one’s who have secured higher pass percentages remain deprived of the jobs.
Arakshan Mukti Morcha claims that there is no benefit to continuing with the caste based reservations and that this is being promoted merely for the sake of vote bank politics.
