Army chief comments on AIUDF’s rise; creates political storm
Political storm is brewing after the comments of the Army Chief Bipin Rawat over the rapid rise of AIUDF political party and even the changing demography in the northeast.
The Assam based party termed the comments as politically driven and shocking.
It need be mentioned that some other political parties have also slammed Bipin Rawat for his remarks on the issue.
However, the BJP said there was nothing new in what he had said and that the Supreme Court had expressed the same view some time back.
The Assam based political party has now sought time with the President, Prime Minister and Union Home minister to seek clarification.
Army chief had said that the AIUDFs growth has been rapid than that of the BJP.
The Army chief was referring to reports of increase in Muslim population in several Assam districts.
It need be mentioned that even AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi had tweeted: “Fundamental question is Indian army and its chief is apolitical my question to Modi government is do they agree with @ADGPI statement if they are silent then it must be said that the particular statement was given at the behest and with the blessings of govt”.
Congress leader and former Union minister Jitendra Singh pointed that Rawat should be more concerned about what Army can do operationally.>
