Self-Styled Godman Asaram was on Wednesday sentenced to life imprisonment by a Jodhpur Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe court.
This decision comes after five years after rape charges were levelled against the widely regarded saintly figure.
The judgement in the case was pronounced inside the Jodhpur Central Jail.
According to police sources, co-accused Shiva and Shilpi have also been convicted while two others Sharad and Prakash have been acquitted.
Asaram has been facing charges including raping of a minor girl, wrongful confinement, criminal intimidation, criminal conspiracy and sexual harassment.
Asaram, who is currently lodged in the Jodhpur Central jail, was facing trial in two sexual assault cases.
While one of the case is in Rajasthan, the other is of Gujarat state.
It is also noteworthy that Asaram had filed near dozen bail petitions but they were all turned down.
Asaram Bapu was taken into police custody in August 2013 following which he was taken to Jodhpur Central jail.
In order to prevent any untoward situation, the Union home ministry had issued an advisory for Rajasthan and the adjoining states of Gujarat and Haryana.
