Going into the match, Uzbekistan’s Hasanboy Dusmatov was favourite to win. But right from the beginning of the bout, Amit matched up to his opponent, a 2017 World Championships silver medallist.

Earlier this year, 22-year-old Amit had bagged a silver at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. The Armyman from Haryana also won gold at the prestigious Strandja Memorial Tournament in Bulgaria this year.
