Australian Open: Simona Halep takes on second seed Caroline Wozniacki in Women’s Singles

In Tennis, Romania’s world number one Simona Halep will take on second seed Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark in the Women’s Singles title clash of the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the season, at Melbourne today.

Both players will be hoping to win a first Grand Slam title. Also at stake will be the number one ranking. If Wozniacki wins, she will dethrone Halep from the top spot. In their previous six WTA meetings, Wozniacki has beaten Halep four times.

The Men’s Singles Final between second seed Roger Federer and sixth-placed Marin Cilic will be played tomorrow.The Mixed Doubles Final, featuring India’s Rohan Bopanna, will also be held tomorrow. Bopanna and his Hungarian teammate Timea Babos will clash with the Croatian-Canadian team of Mate Pavic and Gabriela Dabrowski.

Pavic will also be seen in action in Men’s Doubles Final today. He and Austrian Oliver Marach will face the Colombian pair of Robert Farah and Juan Sebastian Cabal for the title.
