Family of the 22-year-old Dalit woman from Uttar Pradesh’s Balrampur, who died on Tuesday after she was allegedly raped by two men, has questioned the UP Police over its action in the case, saying that, not just two, there are more accused involved in committing the heinous crime.
The family of the victim, in an ultimatum to the Uttar Pradesh Police, said if all those involved in the crime are not arrested, they will set on fire the place where the 22-year-old was raped.
“If we don’t get justice, we will do it ourselves,” the family said on Friday.
The 22-year-old Dalit woman had died on Tuesday after she was allegedly raped by two men in Balrampur’s Gaisari village. Both accused were arrested, police had said.
The victim, a second-year B.Com student, had gone to a college in a nearby town to pay her fees. According to the family, she worked in a private firm.
The family claimed that the woman was abducted on her way back home and she was raped by at least two men.
She reportedly came home in a rickshaw in an unconscious state and had her legs and spine broken. The girl looked dazed and in a serious condition, prompting her parents to rush her to a nearby hospital, but she died on the way.
The family also alleged that the woman was lethally injected before she was raped.
Meanwhile, according to local BJP MLA Palturam, the state government will provide a residential plot and job to a family member of the victim.
The state government will also give Rs 2 lakh more as financial assistance, the Balrampur MLA who met the victim’s family said on Friday.
“Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken note of the incident. The government will provide a residential plot and job to a member of the family,” he said, adding that those involved in the act will be given strict punishment.
“The family has been given financial assistance of Rs 6,18,750. They will be given Rs 2 lakh more,” he added.
