In a rather shocking allegation, a Bangladesh-born British citizen in her forties has filed a rape complaint against a Kerala priest.

The woman with a 22-yr-old son claims that she had been raped by Fr Thomas Thanninilkumthasathil, the vicar of St Matthews Church, Perumthuruthu.

The police from Kaduthuruthy has processed the complaint but the accused is said to be missing.

The complaint says he befriended her on Facebook and invited her to visit Kerala.

When she came to Kaduthuruthy on December 31 with her British friend Kennedy Meindi, she got to stayed there for a week.

It was when she came back on February 8 that she registered the complaint on Wednesday.

Police claims that the priest allegedly raped her during her first visit and the cops were verifying details.

According to the complainant, the priest had also stolen her diamond ring, mobile phone, gold ornaments and a few other things. Pala diocese has taken away priestly responsibilities from the accused for now.
