The government has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to injured. Local authorities claimed that the mishap occurred due to cylinder blast.

However, George said it was unlikely that the buildings collapsed due to blast. “Cylinders on both ground and first floor had no gas in them,” he said.
A young girl was adopted by the state government after she was rescued from Ejipura area of Bengaluru where four residential buildings partially collapsed on Monday. The parents of the girl were among the six people who died in the building collapse.
