Amid Prime Minister Narendra Modi visiting Chhattisgarh to inaugurate the host of projects including the Indian Institute of Technology in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh Congress President Bhupesh Baghel slammed the state government for its crackdown on Congress activists.
In a tweet, Bhupesh Baghel said that this level of crackdown and preventive arrests were done even when the Congress had not invoked for any protest against the visit of the Prime Minister Modi.
He also said that government need not forget that this is not the last visit for the Prime Minister and that Congress would extend political ‘welcome’ to the PM.
It need be recalled that Congress leaders alleged that police began making preventive arrests to preempt any agitation or protest during the visit of the Prime Minister leading to security situation.
The Congress leaders were infuriated about what they termed is pure crackdown by the administration on opposition political party.
Most of the arrests came about in Raipur and Bhilai, both of where were visited by the Prime Minister.
Police however did come across ‘Modi Go Back’ written across the roads leading to Modi’s public meeting site in Bhilai.>
