Raipur. NMDC the public sector mining major player, which has been in the iron ore mining business for over six decades, operates three iron-ore complexes in the country.Two are in Dantewada District of Chhattisgarh and a major part of the company’s total production.One is located in Donimalai,Karnataka.
The two projects Bacheli and Bailadila located in Dantewada District of Chhattisgarh have a production capacity of 33 million tonnes per Annum (MTPA). Currently, production of 24 MTPA has been recorded in the last year 2018-19, two Chhattisgarh campuses of Bacheli and Bailadila projects.
NMDC undertook the renovation of leases of Bailadila projects in advance in the state of Chhattisgarh. Out of the five mines in the Bailadila sector, the lease of four mines with an installed capacity of 29 MTPA has now been extended. A mining lease has already been extended in 2017.
The practice, which continued for the past one year after NMDC Chairman-Cum-Managing Director N.Baijendra Kumar was appointed CMD, finally yielded the desired results.
“We are grateful to the Government of Chhattisgarh and especially to Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and top officials, who have assisted NMDC for their support (for four mines) for 20 years.” he said
The Department of Mineral Resources,Government of Chhattisgarh has today extended four mining leases for a period of 20 years related to NMDC in Dantewada, Chhattisgarh.
