The BJP has released its first list of 125 candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra elections, dropping 12 sitting MLA’s which include some big names.
Devendra Fadnavis, top Ministers Girish Mahajan, Chandrakant Patil, Sudhir Mungantiwar, all have found their names in the list. Patil who will be contesting from Kothrud is considered close to BJP Chief and Home Minister Amit Shah,he will be fighting his maiden election as he was an MLC till now.
The most important people who have not yet found names in the list is Minister Vinod Tawde, former Ministers Eknath Khadse and Prakash Mehta. Energy Minister Chandrashekar Bawankule also has not found his name in the first list.
Maharashtra Chief Ministers’s personal Assistant Abhimanyu Pawar has been given a ticket from Ausa. Also Haribhau Bagade, the BJP MLA and current Assembly speaker who has reached the age of 75 years has also been given a ticket.
Khadse who was facing allegations of corruption and misusing his office had to resign in 2016 and was not inducted in to the cabinet since then. Khadse one of the party’s senior most leaders in the state has been slamming and embarrassing the party as well as Fadnavis.
Mehta too had embarrassed the Chief Minister and faced allegations of corruption, he at one point of time was close to Shah. Sources in the BJP said that Mehta has been lobbying for an assembly ticket for his son if the party denies him a ticket.
BJP leaders in Maharashtra said that since this is the first list Tawde,Mehta and Khadse, Bawankule could find their names in the second or third list.
