Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) went on to promote the film- The Accidental Prime Minister.
The promotion was done through party’s official Twitter handle.
It need be mentioned that BJP leaders are already questioning why Congress was now ‘questioning the freedom of expression’.
“Can’t we extend our wishes for a film? Congress has been all for freedom, why is it questioning that freedom now?” Information and Broadcasting Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore was quoted in different media reports.
Riveting tale of how a family held the country to ransom for 10 long years. Was Dr Singh just a regent who was holding on to the PM’s chair till the time heir was ready? Watch the official trailer of The Accidental Prime Minister, based on an insider’s account, releasing on 11 Jan!” BJP said in a tweet on Thursday.
The Congress party has demanded a special screening of the film and threatened to take ‘other means’ to stop its release in the country.
It is based on the book by Sanjaya Baru, Advisor to Manmohan Singh and the film is based on Singh’s life as an economist and a politician.>
