For Bihar Assembly Elections, the BJP has formally announced alliance with Mukesh Sahani led Vikassheel Insan Party (VIP). In a joint press conference in Patna, the state BJP President Sanjay Jaiswal said that the party has decided to allot 11 assembly seats for VIP from its quota.
In the National Democratic Alliance, BJP is contesting on 121 seats and its partner JD (U) will be fielding candidates for 122 seats for the 243 member State Assembly. In the Grand Alliance, RJD is contesting on 144 seats while Congress will field candidates on 70 seats. The new allies of Grand alliance CPI(ML), CPI and CPM have altogether got a chunk of 29 seats.
Meanwhile, the political activities have gained momentum in the poll-bound Assembly constituencies with just one more day left for filing of nominations for the first phase. BJP today released its list of 27 candidates for the first phase. So far 154 candidates have filed their nominations.
The scrutiny of papers will take place on Friday. 71 constituencies spread over 16 districts will go to the polls in this phase on 28th of this month.
