Speaking at the foundation day mega event, the BJP national president Amit Shah sought to assure the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes that the Narendra Modi led government will neither scrap the reservation policy nor allow anyone else to do so.
The assurance shows the anxiety amongst the ruling party after attacks were amassed on it from opposition parties.
He named rival party leaders Rahul Gandhi and Sharad Pawar that BJP will never allow end of reservation policy.
Shah was speaking at the BJP’s 38th Foundation Day rally in Mumbai.
With major state elections and national election ahead, the BJP needs to convince the SC/ST communities on the issue.
This is also in perspective of an agitation where in people from Dalit community took to streets in different states to protest against the alleged “dilution” of SC-ST Act by Supreme Court.
Shah also took on the recently formed coalitions and equated them to ‘snakes’, ‘mongoose’, ‘dogs’ and ‘cats’.
He said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has instilled fear of electoral losses amongst the opposition parties and thus they are now teaming up.
The BJP president also blamed Opposition for the continuous adjournment of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha in the second-leg of the Budget session of Parliament.
