Bombay HC rules unmarried major daughter too can claim maintenance from father

petitioner pleaded that though a major, the daughter is dependent on her

Another crucial judgement from Bombay High Court ruled that an unmarried daughter is entitled to maintenance from her father even after she attains majority.

The ruling came about when the Bombay High Court was hearing a petition filed by a woman seeking maintenance for her major daughter.

This happened when the youngest daughter turned 18 and thus legally major.

The petitioner woman had two other sons from the marriage as well.

The petitioner pleaded that though a major, the daughter is dependent on her and thus should she have claim of maintenance from her biological father.
