A mob attacked police vehicles suspecting that a minor boy may have died due to police torture.

Sources said that attack led to policemen and security personnel of a state-run agency getting injured.

The violence followed the death of a 17-year-old boy at the Sion Hospital in Mumbai, as per police sources.

Two police constables and three personnel of the Maharashtra State Security Corporation (MSSC) including a woman were injured in the incident, it was informed.

A minor boy Sachin Jaiswar, who was a resident of Mumbai’s Dharavi area, died at the civic-run hospital located in central Mumbai.

He was undergoing treatment on Saturday.

The boy had been admitted to the hospital after he was questioned by the Dharavi police in connection with a criminal case.

However, police said that he was later allowed to go.

Police said that while at home, the boy fell sick and had to be admitted to the hospital and he subsequently died during treatment.

It was then the mob of around 100 people gathered outside the hospital late last night.

They began with throwing of stones at the policemen, their vehicles and MSSC personnel, police informed.

The mob then allegedly beat up the on-duty policemen and MSSC personnel (generally deployed at the state government offices and organisations), it said.

The violence then resulted in a 31-year-old police constable Kishorekumar Kadam, who sustained serious head injuries in the attack.
