Boy floats fake Twitter handle of UP-DGP; to direct local police act in case

The cops, it emerged were not taking action on his family’s complaint

An aggrieved boy struck upon an idea to make the local police work in the case of cheating that cost his brother Rs 45000.

As per report, the boy studying in class X created a Twitter handle using the name of Uttar Pradesh director general of police (DGP) from which the directives were issued to the Gorakhpur cops take action.

The cops, it emerged were not taking action on his family’s complaint, soon turned active so much so that the fraudster returned Rs 30,000 to the minor’s brother and promised the remaining amount soon.

The boy and one of his friends involved in the case were detained and let off with a stern warning at the behest of the DGP.

The matter came to light when the DGP office reported the matter to the Hazratganj police and it was subsequently given out to cyber cell.

It is then that the truth of the Twitter handle, in the name ‘OP Singh’ and displaying the DGP’s photo, emerged.

It is said that the twitter account was being operated from a phone in Maharajganj police station area of Gorakhpur.

The cyber cell worked on the case further and tracked the boy behind the cyber fraud.
