Home and Jail Minister Shri Bala Bachchan has said that ‘Kanha brand’ items made by prisoners in the jail will be made available online.
Shri Bachchan was addressing the closing session of the 6th National Conference of Jail Chiefs of States and Union Territories today.
He said that necessary steps will be taken to ensure the welfare of sick and elderly prisoners.
Shri Bachchan told to publish the conclusions drawn at the conference in the form of a booklet.
He said that this booklet should be sent to other states also so that they can follow the suggestions in their work area.
This will solve practical difficulties of the prisoners. He said that efforts should be made to implement innovations first in the state.
Minister for General Administration and Cooperatives Dr. Govind Singh said that problem is created due to number of prisoners in jails being excess.
When prisoners come out of jail, they should also be considered for self-employment and a respectable place in society.
He said that the prisoners’ health should also be taken care of in the jails.
Director General of Police, Jail Shri Sanjay Chaudhary said that in 1999, the sentence of prisoners above 70 years was reduced. He said that Chanderi saris are being made by the prisoners in Sagar jail. Dr. Rekha Jain and Dr. Neelam Jain were felicitated by the minister duo at the conference.
Director of Central Academy of Police Training Shri Pawan Shrivastav told about the activities of the Academy. Sushri Sampat Meena from Police Research and Development Bureau gave a brief summary of the two-day conference.
