Bus falls into gorge in Dang district, at least nine died

In yet another mishap, as many as nine persons have reportedly died with many others injured when a bus they were travelling in fell into a 200-foot deep gorge on Mahal Bardipada road in Dang district.

Local sources said that bus must have slipped into the gorge while taking a sharp turn on the hilly road.

Over 85 persons were travelling in the bus including students of a tuition class in Amroli area of the city.

Along with students, teachers and parents of few students were travelling in the bus that was returning to city after a tour to Dang.

Forest department along with police started a rescue operation and shifted the students to hospitals in Ahwa of Dang and Vyara of Tapi district.

Some patients were shifted to the city after their condition was found to be critical.

Around 75 students, 10 teachers and parents of students of Gurukrupa classes were returning from Dang when the bus GJ-05-Z-9993 slipped into the gorge.

The rescue was started by locals and passersby on hearing the screams of victims. Those injured were shifted to hospitals in 108 ambulance and private vehicles.
