Bus mishap in Sawai Madhopur; near three dozen feared killed; heres more about it
In a tragedy that struck commuters in Rajasthan’s Sawai Madhopur district, nearly three dozen people are feared killed when a bus plunged into a river on Saturday.
Police and local administration have begun efforts to rescue the passengers that may be alive or in need of medical help.
Local police claims to have fished out over two dozen bodies so far.
It is not clear how the bus met the mishap but initial reports suggests that the driver may have lost control of the bus as he tried to overtake another vehicle.
This caused him to break the railing of the bridge and plunge into the river below.
The bus was traveling over Banas river when it met the mishap and driver lost control.
The bus was travelling from Sawai Madhopur to Lalkot when it broke through the bridge wall. The report added that the injured are being treated at a hospital nearby.
Most of the passengers are said to be belonging from Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh and were on their way to offer prayers at the Ramdevra Temple in Lalsot.
Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje offered her condolences and has directed the officials to ensure help to the needy. >
